Join us for a late summer hike looking for what mushrooms are fruiting. We will chat about basic anatomy and diagnostic features for identifying mushrooms. Limited discussion on edibility. Some potential species of fungi we may see at this time of the year include chicken of the woods, old man of the woods, various coral spp, golden oysters, and several Amanita spp.
Adam Korejwa studied math at UMass Dartmouth where he focused on complex systems and networks before studying Ecological Engineering at Oregon State University where he studied coupled human and natural systems under climate change. He is a biophile, amateur naturalist, enthusiastic teacher, and proud father.
We will be meeting at the Shoolman Preserve, located near 204 New Bedford Road, Rochester, just west of Captain Bonney’s Ice Cream. Off-street parking is available in the area marked with a Rochester Land Trust/Mattapoisett Land Trust sign. The kiosk is at the parking area.
A five-dollar donation to the museum is requested.
