Sailing to Newfoundland – Museum Annual Meeting

May 1 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

  • This event has passed.

Sailing to Newfoundland: ultra-fresh codfish, moose sausage, bergs, endless coastal vistas and wonderful people. Marion resident and world-renowned WHOI scientist, Michael Moore, PhD, will describe the summer 2023 sailing cruise he and his wife Hannah Moore (yes, that Hannah Moore!) took around Newfoundland and back.

As the Director of the WHOI Marine Mammal Center, Dr. Moore supports the International Fund for Animal Welfare’s Marine Mammal Rescue and Research division by providing veterinary support for their work with abandoned marine mammals on Cape Cod. The Scope of his research includes the forensic analysis of marine mammal mortalities.

His most recent work, We Are All Whalers, was published in 2021.

The Marion Natural History Museum board will be hosting a quick business meeting for members at the beginning and then getting to Michael’s program. The Marion Natural History Museum frequently runs programs appropriate for adults and large groups including families with children. All are welcome to attend! Seating tends to be limited at these programs, so we recommend you reserve your spot in advance, but tickets are always available at the door.
