Have you ever heard “quacking” from the woods in spring? Chances are its wood frogs chorusing and not ducks. Let’s take a close look at the small temporary pools in our forests. These pools provide habitat to many important species that form the start of our forest’s food web. From the microscopic animals that feed on the dead organic material that falls into the pool, to the larger animals that inhabit our forested ecosystem.
