Spring Pools of Marion’s Forest

April 9 @ 3:30 pm - 4:30 pm

Let’s find out the important role the animals that live in our spring ponds play in our ecosystem. We’ll be taking a close-up look at the attributes that make a vernal pool habitable for these interesting animals. We’ll learn about the forest food chain and why these pools are so important. Let’s see why amphibians are the forest’s “canary-in-a-coal-mine” in determining the health of the forest communities in Marion. We’ll be taking a close look at some of the animal and plant life in these special areas.
