Eat Bugs? What? Who Would Want to Eat Bugs?

January 16 @ 3:30 pm - 4:30 pm

It may not be as wild as it sounds. Around the world, consuming insects is the norm. In all countries except for the USA, Canada, and Europe, people consume at least one type of insect. And, when you really think of it, we eat lobsters and lobsters are not that different looking from insects.

In countries where insects are consumed, people rave about their flavors. They mix them into their favorite foods or simply fry them up. Insects are rich in protein and many vital nutrients. In fact, consuming them can cure some nutrient deficiencies. So, why aren’t insects consumed here? Come hear all about it as we discuss the topic of entomophagy with Blake Dinius, Entomologist with Plymouth County Cooperative Extension.
