Old Growth Forests of Massachusetts

David Orwig, senior ecologist and Forest Ecologist with Harvard Forest will be sharing his research into the presence of old-growth forests in our state. The talk will include a broad discussion of old-growth forests in Massachusetts- What are they? Where are they? And What can they tell us? Through pictures and data from many old-growth forests in the state, many aspects of why these rare forest gems are so special will be described along with the many threats they face. Partial funding for this program has been provided by the Marion Cultural Council. Suggested donation to the museum – $10.00/person.
